Has anyone ever ran a Screw on a BBC? Most of the folks I know run a Hemi.

    Call Doucet

Bill Doucet has quite a bit of experience with this combo and is our neck of the woods (Opelousas, La) He ran one for a while in his car and has helped Wesley Jones with his D blower and Brodix Big Chiefs. Jones has ran low 3.90s on many equations and has the potential to run .80s.

However both have bought Hemis if that tells you anything too.

Was wondering if the issue of 35+lbs of boost was wrecking havoc on the bottom ends?

Yes. Scott Filkins ran a screw on his RFE headed, BBC with 48-50lbs at the top of second and high gear gear, with an older style new Century block. We never had any lower end issues. But, he did run a Bryant crank and GRP and MGP rods. Ran for 4 seasons with the screw on it. Car was 2720lbs and ran low 6.0's and a best of 5.96 @ 244. Car would eight mile high 3.80's at 192-194mph.
IMHO, you just need to be up on dropping the pan when you lean on it.

    Good Info

Thanks. I think Ill try the screw out on my BBC before I get all sappy about buying a Hemi. I did buy a good crank, rods and pistons this time so we will see what happens.

One more question while Im at it

Is it necessary to have the pie opening in the center of the intake for a screw? It works great for my roots. Ive never even seen the bottom of a screw blower so I have no idea.

Different guys have a lot of different variations of how their distribution plate is cut out. I would just leave the stock distribution holes and run it. Just be careful on your compression. Aim for 10.1 even, and you shouldn't have any problems.

    206D on a BBC

We are running the New Centrey 10,200 blocks, and have for the last 4 years with the screw blower, and up to 50 psi boast, No failures, for a cast block I do not think there is any better. Lowell is a dam good guy to deal with, 618 466 6383 . Just my 2 cents. Butch

The only blocks I would use are new century, kb olds, or dart iron block. BTDT
