I've run Crower billet steel rods for 4 years 1500+ hp with absolutely no concerns. Still run the same rods today. I also run Clevite 77 H bearings. I can usually go a full year on rod bearings. Blown BBC altered 11.5:1 35 lbs of boost

You will not be able to cruise that car without it being dangerous and or building too much heat in the trans and washing down the cylinders. Just a small blip of the throttle and you are in deep shit. That aside the rods you have will work just fine as long as you don't detonate.

1500-1600hp enough to run 6.50's in a light car.

Ran low 7's and high 6's Blown alcohol 4.25 stroke 4.185 bore with Eagle rods and the ARP L19 bolt upgrade.
Never hurt a rod or rod bearing but the engine was hard on main bearings.
The weight on the steel rod and alum rod are almost the same. So no advantage there.
I vote for the steel rods and you can run them for years.
Aluminum rods changing all the time and they still fail and fail big time when they do.

6.50 on a steel rod could be pushing it though.

Just a weird question - are there ANY top alcohol funny car or dragster teams using steel rods? When we kicked a rod out at KCIR a few years ago I wanted to start using a steel rod and several engine builders talked me out of it...they all must be in cahoots the rod manufacturers (LOL)....we are running mid 6's with a 526 KB hemi - 4.500 stroke - 4.310 bore....

also with steel rods, bigger stroke are hurtful to engines. or keep the rpms down.
