I,m in the process of switching to a MBR motor, we in TD are required to be self starting, has anyone here mounted a starter to the side of a MBR motor? Maybe like the pro-mod cars do with the Brad motors? If I use a Chyrsler style that bolts to the mid plate, how do I line it up properly with the flexplate? Thanks, Jody.

Precision chassis did mine. That self starting thing really sucks. Who cares if the car is running by the time you need to leave the staging lanes. I hate it. Cost alot to do that stupid deal. Don

Brandon, talked to Mike about my front motor mounts, he sounded like I was speaking a foriegn language LOL. Had to get Bob Minor to send him a front cover assembly to go by. I'll call him tommorow. Don do you run a dragster? Blown375 I looked at that but holy hell rcd website said it weighs 45lbs. not including the batts.

jody - call meziere and ask for dave. they were the only ones who said they would re sfi their flywheel if it was not hurt. they fixed me up with a 24v starter for my aj. my guess is that you will need the speed a 24v starter gives you. i wouldn't waist my time with spitzer - how good of a job did they do on your dragster by not making it the correct length for a tranny? do you have room in front of the motor for an rcd front mounted starter? andy burnet

Yes I have a dragster. I have the Mezeri mid plate starter + flywheel. It is a 168 tooth. It is the Pro Mod deal. About $1100 plus. It is still a pain in the ass.
Yes it is alot of weight with the RCD stuff. and then the 2 battery rule. They need to change the rules from top sportsman and make some for top dragster. And yes I am running the class and still bitching. as usual. Want it my way. Call Jim @ Percision. He may be able to help you with your question. 1-484-932-8031 Don

After talking to Bob Minor today, at his suggestion, I'm going to send him my flexplate and starter. He said he would mock up the block mounted starter for me. The plus is for future pro-mod types or any car that needs to be self starting Bob will have a ready made setup without having to rely on a heavy crank mounted starter. I'll keep everyone posted, thanks for the info and help. And thanks Will Hanna for the site, for us newer blower guys it's the deal!

Har Har very funny. All of us aren't high zoot TAD racers, but then again we don't need a damn platoon sized crew to follow us around either, just one will do nicely:D

Hey Jody, I'm not 100% sure but I think Bob Minor has a bolt on 12v starter in his catalog... right next to the chrome digital dial in board brackets!

    :D :D :D :D

HAHA smartass, Yeah I got a dial board on my heap. But at least I left it unpainted like the chassis........ saves weight....looks cooler!
