This seems to be a common thread these days.

    526kb, 1471, promag 44, digital 7 7531, leahy crank trigger.

Tried to fire the car last weekend. No spark. No we were not running the crank trigger OR the digital 7. We just ran off the mag and points box to keep it simple for starters.

As suggested by Mike in another post, we pulled all the plugs out and turned it over...had great spark. With all the plugs in, we put a spark plug on the coil wire, no spark. We even had a power booster on the battery, the lights off, and a magnifying glass....no spark!

What's the obvious solution to cranking the motor over faster? Should this have been a problem when we weren't even on the crank trigger?

    Josh......
i don't know if you have it, but you need 24 volts....it just makes things so much easier.

Yeah I do, guess i'll have to. Stupid question... If you have a 24 volt battery, how do you run all your electronic's that are 12 volt? Do they make something to switch it to 12 volts after the starter??

You will need 2 batteries , on the first one you connect to ground the negative pole and take your 12 volts for the car from the positive pole.

Them with the same positive post (batt 1) you go in series to neg pole on 2nd battery and the positive of the second batt to the starter . That way only the starter will see the 24volts.

Also run your start button on 24 volts direct from the battery if you have a csr 24 unit.

Do you have a master disconnect ground switch and a data logger?

Yes, the master disconnect goes in the positive pole of batt #1 that way it breaks both the 12volts to the car and the 24 volt to the starter.

I also have a racepack datalogger om the car , no problems.

Im a Promod guy, but, I crank with 24 volts remote using a solenoid from Catterpillar and I use a 14 volt Milwaukee drill battery (has 15.5 volts constantly) and the mount that STAR racing sells for it. It has worked flawlessley for me. And it's reasonable 2 batteries and a charger for under $300.

I can send you some pics if you are interested in the mount.

Just for follow up...we unhooked all electronics, hooked another 12v battery in series to the starter...fired right up. Looks like we'll be investing in a 16v battery.

It was nice to hear the car run...2 years in the making from ground zero. Appreciate the help guys...

    anybody else bummed winter's coming???

Am I correct that you use the drill batteries for cranking the starter ?

How many amps do those batteries have ?

They actually use the 18volt drill batteries to run all the electronics on the car. I think most that do this use a couple of 12volt batteries on their golf cart hooked in series to "jump" the car in the staging lanes w/ a quick connect.

If you are using a blower mount starter, the more over drive you have, the slower the motor will spin. Mag 44 needs 250 RPM to fire. PSI funny car 92 over, we had to go to 48 volts, 36 sometimes wasn`t enough. after we went to 48, we never had starting troubles again.

I have 2 - 12 volt batteries on the 4 wheeler with a cord and quick disconnect to start the car. I use a 24 volt solenoid from Catterpillar for this. I use 1 - 14 volt Milwaukee battery to run my 8973 box. I was scared of the 18 volt batteries because when they are freshly charged, they have over 20 volts....the 14 volt batteries are around 16 when fresh...works good.

Josh.....do yourself a favor and buy 2 smaller 12V batteries. we use 2 500 cca 12V batteries and with the 24V it starts easily. just something to think about
