What kind of oil heater do you use and why?

Is it in the pan, on the pan or ?

I like the Moroso stick on 400 watt, for $50, but I ruined one after I thought I was being nice to it. Apparantly I don't have velvet hands:D The "water heater element" style looks to overcome that but they are less watts and cost more:confused:

We use the element style and have had good luck with it. Heats the oil very quick and has held up for 4 years riding along in the Plymouth. In a dry sump tank.

we went to walmart got 2 electric pan warmers use a 4x4 or 6x6 under it to put it under the pan and turn them on, when the pan gets hot to the touch I back down the heat control knob..been using them for years and they are very cheap..Dave Lowe

I think the ones Lowe is talking about are similar to the size and shape of a tray. They look kinda like an electric skillet without the sides.

In the trailer park we call em what mamma cooks dinner on , I like the idea of using a hot plate to heat the oil as it also heats the motor some at the same time.

We use a screw in type from Patterson (Racing Engines). It screws into our dry sump tank.
