Where can a person get old blower rotors that are scrap. I want to learn how to re-strip rotors but I don't want to destroy my good ones if I screw up.

    Thanks

    Build/buy yourself a rotor fixture.
    Put your rotor in it.
Get a vise grip and lots of WD-40.
Take your time and you won't ruin the rotors, your much more likely to ruin the teflon.

Oh, and have a buddy feed the teflon into the groove as you pull on the vise grip.

I would think it would be a lot harder to pull Teflon through rotors that are scrap and have the tips dinged up. And it took more time to take the blower apart and put it back together than it ever took us to re-strip the rotors 20 years ago.

What about the black strips, don't you have to turn them down to size on a lathe?

Yes. At least every once in a while back then, our crew chief Terry would install and turn the blacks down at Hoffman Machine where he worked back then. Are your blacks opening up or splitting?

    Rotors

To tell you the truth my rotors are fine, but I do everything on my car myself, but I have never done blower rotors. I have some time on my hands over the winter, so to keep myself busy, I was going to teach myself to re-strip blower rotors. So instead of re-striping a perfectly good rotor I wanted to get a used one to play with. Just don't want to spend a lot of money. Then when mine need done I will hopefully be able to do it myself.:)

    Thanks

Yes, the black strips need to be cut, but you need a damn good lathe to cut them straight. You are cutting them so there is a clearance and its a tight clearance.

When we had LF's, after about 100 runs from new I sent them back to LF to change them and I could not measure the difference in boost afterwards.

That was what I was thinking will be my only constraint, is my lathe is getting old. Its accurate for the first 12 inches of the bed, but any farther than that and its off by about 1/2 to 3/4 of a thou. I definatly don't want to do my own rotors bad enough to warrant buying a new lathe.
