Can someone explain how the divisional end of season points system works?

We have too many events spread across too many miles. We don't want to say no to promoters but want a hard fought points race without having to go to 30 events in 105 days. Is there a good solution to this?

    like Doug said,

You take your best five races out of the first 8 you attend. You can go to more, but after 8 races, you can't gain anymore points.

For the divisional championship, you must claim three in-division races towards your total. You can claim your best two out of the first three out of division races you attend.

You must attend at least three in division events for your points to count towards bronze or silver cards.

By finishing in the top ten in your division, you gain a bronze card for third through tenth place. This card gets you free entry into national and divisional events. It also allows you to enter a national event at any point in the year.

Your national points consists of your best 5 out of the first 8 national events you go to plus your divisional points total. You can run as many out of division races as you want towards chasing national points. I don't know if Top Ten national gets you a silver or bronze card.

The difference between the color of the cards is how many crew tickets you get at nationals for free. I think Gold is driver plus 4, Silver is plus 3 and Bronze is plus 1.

Without a 'card', you must enter races based on the grade point system. You can see the release schedule on nhraeventreg.com. You recieve a grade point for each divisional you attend in a given year. Event entry opens earlier for higher grade drivers, and is open all year for those with a card. If you are a lower grade or new driver, you have to wait until about a month before the race to enter. Before I got my card, I had the entry dates on my calendar, and was logged on ad noon PST to try to get one of the last few spots. With the economy being as it has, most of the races don't reach their max entry quota, so it hasn't been as hard.

Grade points from other categories can transfer over to TAD/TAFC. FIA and ANDRA events can count as grade points for international drivers wanting to race in the States.

This applies to the alcohol categories only, other sportsman classes have a different structure.

16 National events contest the alcohol classes, eight East of the Miss. river and eight West. There are a total of 40 divisional races that have alcohol cars. Five of the seven divisions have six races the other two have five each. Of course many divisional races have overlapping dates with other races on the divisional and national schedules. So the answer would be 56 total events to choose from. Hope this is the answer you were looking for.

So if I was a contender to win the points championship and I went to the first 8 events of the season. Than my toughest competitor went to the last eight. Could I also go to the last 8 in order to run against him to try and keep his points total down?

Yes you can run as many events as you want, you just do not earn points, the extra events you can go and try to block, or test, or what ever. Doug
