    Hey,

I am thinking about direct drive.

They say that PG goes down the very poor track better than others, but even without serious power (1300-1500 hp) first gear was still useless. 2700 lbs 32x16 GY: 1.3 60' and 5.5 @ 133, but 1/4 speed was 172 and room to improve.

Old car, our first alky engine:

With new car would like to step up in the hp department, C-blower etc.

So have any of you guys done that or should I contact A/Fuelers or go straight to TF for lockup..

I guess some of you guys with limited tire and serious power may have similiar issues.

    Thank you,

    Partel

Use timing to control your power at launch. Either a 6 shooter, msd 7531, or the promag controller to pull timing at the hit and ramp it in. That's a pretty heavy car for direct drive. My car is 3100 lbs on 10.5's 2 speed 1.13 60's 4.40's in the 1/8th. Timing control is the only way to make it happen. Seriously, if you can't make 1500 hp work you've got a tough road ahead.

With a track like that I'd say you did pretty good, I didnt see any sticky at all.

Without a decent track you wont see a good 60ft. If it was me I'd try some ballast in the rear, or alot of it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just makes you slower.

Wow, just watched that second video and you'd probably be better off racing on a dirt road. is that really a track or did they just cone off a street?

running a direct drive as in 1to1...with a lock up clutch I don't think it will work with an alcohol motor..you need nitro to make the motor load...nitro loves to have a very hard load then enturns makes HP..dave

i'd say either lack of track prep or wrong gearing making 1st too violent. i could launch 1500hp full throttle full timing from idle off the line with my PG no probs and run 1.03 60ft. i know another guy that left from idle with a PG and went.993 60ft so it can be done...good luck

Like Dave said, an alky motor direct drive will be tough to get it out of the hole. You'd think you could slip the clutch to keep from pulling the motor down, but it doesn't work that way. I had to add nitro to my combination.
