[CAN ANY ONE OUT THERE ADVISE ME ON WEATHER ITS POSSIBLE TO PULL CRANKCASE VACUME WHEN USING TWO SEPERATE SPIT TANKS WITH QUICK RELEASE BLOW DOWN BREATHERS, AND A 5 STAGE DRYSUMP PUMP.
I WAS WUNDERING IF ITS POSSIBLE USING SOME SORT OF CHECK BALL POP OFF TYPE BLOW DOWN BREATHER, OR INLINE VALVE.
OR IS THERE JUST WAY TOO MUCH CRANK CASE PRESSURE.
APPLICATION IS KB 528CID WITH STAGE FIVE SEMISOLID HEADS AND A K11 SUPERMAN WITH GORR GUCCI STYLE BARREL VALVE IN 63 VALIANT PROMOD STREET CAR ON ALCOHOL.
    THANKS GUYS.:eek:SIZE="7"][/SIZE]

Just like you said from what I have read and seen there is just to much blowby to pull any kind of good vacuum number, a couple of guys over on yellowbullet with centrifugals have done this with mixed results (most bad) but they are usually using either gas or alky with EFI and are not drowning the motor in alky to cool the blower.

I have not tried running a pump with a blower motor but I have had experience with a top of the line vacuum pump on a carbed alky, once the oil gets hot the alky in the oil under negative pressure starts to boil rapidly causing all sorts of steam to be emitted from the pumps catch can often the steam carries oil with it and fills the catch can fairly rapidly. The amount of oil boiling off in a blown alky setup would probably be huge, and it seems to me but this is only speculation that if you have alky boiling in the crankcase and dry sump tank you will be feeding your pressure section a bubbly mess?

    vacuum

I have run a star vacuum pump on a 557" chevy with a whipple at 43 lbs of boost and using a check valve (2" diameter from home depot) was able to make enough vacumm to suck the oil out of the bearings and kick the rods out. That was with a wet sump though and would definitely have worked better with a dry sump. Should help seal better, however lots of plumbing for ?? results. i will say this, after a pass i would have about 1 or 2 cups of raw alky in the puke tank and the oil always looked like new, never milky, so that was a plus

What kind of 2" check valve did you use.
Does anyone make a trick one with a large enough ID as not to increase velocity therefore pulling to much blow by unnecessarily.

    Dailey

I know Taylor Lastor ran the Dailey dry sump set up on his BAE Hemi Pro Mod and quit running a puke tank.

    Dry Sumps and blowers

Why don't more people run dry sumps with blown motors?

I run a dry sump, but my pump couldn't keep up with the blowby, we had to add valve cover vents to a puke tank.
