Assuming they are both running a blown Hemi, can you guys tell me the technical differences in the cars?

I know TD gets half the wing and has to self-start. I know TAD has to use a planetary tranny. What else differentiates them?

    Thanks,

    -Scouder

Edit: Now that I look at the IHRA rules, they show a minimum wing, but not a max, like the NHRA.

T/D must run converter set-up only , self starting ,
    Roots blower only for IHRA

To change a T/D over to TAD would mean the following:

    Pour in seat
    Lateral Head Supports
    Helmet Shroud
Engine Containment System aside from diaper
    Screw Blower
    Blower Bag
No air throttle control or elec fuel timers
    SFI-15 Shoes
    SFI-15 Suit
    SFI-15 Gloves
    Nomex Headsock
    Titanium Bellhousing
Bruno/Lencodrive setup if running an automatic
Driver must shift off of light and push button, no auto shift
    No Ring Gear on Flywheel
    External Starter
    Cert. Wing Struts

I'm sure I missed something, but that's the jist of it.

Thank you very much for the info. It's tough to form a comparison like that by just looking at the rules.

Do the TAD guys typically use a long wheelbase, like the TF guys?

one more thing- isnt TD a bracket with dial ins? TAD is first guy to the other end. I don't know anything about TD so I am asking also. Dave Germain

Yeah T/D is a bracket race. As far as wheelbase everyone uses long wheelbase. Although I don't see any of the blown cars using 300" cars, I'd say it varies between 285" and 295". We had a 292" Spitzer we were running until it was crashed, new car will be a 287" Spitzer. I'm not sure why it's going to be shorter, I just know Mike Spitzer makes the rules haha.

And in the case of a TAD, don't forget the roll cage shroud, difference in minimum weight and maximum cu.in. (if you use a roots or a screw), oil-retention device, pressure-tested and labeled oil lines, lower-engine-ballistic/restraint-device and so on...
