I had great top end oiling, on my old engine combo. I had the block decked .018 and the heads cut .009. I'm getting virtually NO oil up top.

From what i can tell, the pushrods are getting lots of oil, but i quits at the rockers. I'm going to talk to T&D monday, but have you ran into a problem with the adjustment of the bolt? I think i'm having to unscrew it a couple of extra turns, and it is hurting the oil to the springs?

I think you will find the pushrods are too long causing you to have to screw the adjusters too far "up" and blocking the oil hole. Take a rocker off and check adjuster to rocker arm hole alignment.

Are they so sensative that milling a total of .030 will take them outside the range?

They sell special shims to put the rockers back to the correct geometry. If you are that far out then you need to turn the motor over with everything in place and adjusted and check the roller tip swipe on top of the valve stem. It is easyier to do this with light test springs. At the half lift point it should be in the middle of the valve stem (lash cap). Then at full lift a little on the inside and at no lift a little on the outside. Total roll should be back and forth evenly across the middle of the valve stem (or lash cap). Once that is set then the adjusters should be all the way with 1/2 to 1 1/2 turn out to get the correct valve lash. If more that 2 turns then you need longer pushrods.

Greg, I think you need to check the rocker arm assembly using the T & D shaft height gage to verify your stand height is acceptable.

Here's a LINK from the T & D website about checking for correct stand height and push rod length.

Notice step 2, the last paragraph states "The rocker arm should not be operated with the adjuster screw more than one turn up or down, from the initial adjuster position. Doing so can cut off flow of oil to the rocker arm".

Hope this helps and good luck,

I am going to call them Monday, and order that tool, and a set of spacers, just to have them.

Anyone know how to determine the initial adjuster position?

If I understand your question correctly You can't determin the initial adjuster position until the rocker arm geometry is either set by the method I explained or by using their tool (Catch 22). One thing I have found is by using a Manton adjustable pushrod (he sells them for this purpose) and a light test spring you can get the adjuster one turn out then adjust the pushrod to get the right length. Then measure the length of the adjustable pushrod and order the pushrods or send the adjustable pushrod to Manton and he will make them the same length.

Mike is correct ( again )

I can tell you the tool dimensions if you have access to a small mill ?

    The T&D tool measures :

    stem is .500 wide

then flat on top ( top of tee )
one side is .510 thick and the other is .295 thick

I sent pics to your website email address.
