Is it worth it to change my clutch to a lock-up? I have a aft 6 finger triple disc. And if so how would you go about it? Appreciate it as always guys!

What are you running it in? How adjustable is the lockup point? Haven't had a lot of experience with AFT.

If you can get it to lock up tight when you hit your main power band, then it may be worth it. I know there are a couple different staged lockup clutches out there that work well in Pro Mods, you just have to beable to carry low gear long enough to build the steam in the engine and wheel speed before you lock it up.

From what I understand guys are using 2 levers that are air controlled or are using a buttom to release them when they want. I just do not know exactly how it all works but I heard you can do it for a couple hundred bucks.

Call Bob Brooks at AFT. He can set you up with the levers, cross shaft, arm, cannon, air charge button, and release system. Sounds difficult but is very easy to set up and use. I have that set-up on a customers pro-mod car and we are still learning when and where to lock the clutch up at. Depending on the track, lock-up in low gear and it spins going into second. Slide it through low gear and try to lock it up and it may drive through the clutch till 1100'. So we will keep trying. Good luck Joe.

And Sean, yes it is worth it. The problem with a Promod clutch is trying to get the best of two worlds. Within a certain range a clutch that is a little loose will give you the best ET but a lower MPH because it will not lock up in high gear. If you get it tight enough to lock up in high gear you will have a high MPH but a slower ET. See where I am coming from...so with a lockup clutch you can be a little looser down low for ET and locked up in high for MPH.

It sounds pretty interesting. I had watched that video before from Victor Bray and learned alot. I have a little ways to go still to finish up. Probably best to send my stuff out and have Frank or Bob do it up right. Appreciate all the input!!

It seems alot of the guys are running a 2 speed in the 1/8 or maybe my hearing is getting bad but only here a few them shift once.

You will also need to send them your bellhousing for correct geometry and instalation of the "other" parts

You can install the other parts in the can yourself but yes it is easier to get AFT to do it. Sean, I hope you have a cross shaft clutch lever in your can and not a clutch fork.

Basically you are going to have to either get a longer cross shaft or extend the cross shaft that you have so it comes out of the right side of the can like it does on the left side. Then you are going to add a lever the same as on the left side to the right side. Then you are going to have to mount a Lenco air pod on a stiff bracket so it is adjustable. When air applied this air pod will extend and only allow the throwout bearing to come back far enough to totally realease the four fingers which means you are going to need about .300" between the fingers and the bearing. Now when the air is released from the pod it will allow the throwout bearing to move back approx .25" to let the other fingers release and lockup the clutch. So if you have 30 grams total on six fingers now you would have the 30 grams total on just those first four fingers then enough extra weight on the other two fingers to get the clutch to lock up when you want it to. I would recommend either using a Tim McAmis air operated Hobbs switch on the third gear pod through a Digi-Set timer to a nitrous solenoid. The Digi-Set allows you to delay the lockup time from the shift point and when activated uses the solenoid to release the air.
