Well, in every AFD-BAD match-up where an AFD made a full pull, it beat the BAD. The only exception was Duane Shields whose engine snuffed out just after the hit of the throttle handing the win to Ken Perry. The only other BAD to advance was David Wells who took out another BAD (John Haley). So, two BADs (25%) move on to round 2 of eliminations.

But those 2 have a great chance to run a low thirty in the second round or even a twenty... if your talking reaction times.

They should give the blown cars 20 - 25% nitro, then you can slow the blowers down and it will give you about 2/10 th's.

You still won't have any flames on the blown alcohol cars, so it won't take away from the A-Fuel show and it should bring the field closer.

The possibility of another blower, ie: C-Blower, is not the answer because you will just tear up more parts and make the blown class spend more money.

Apparently NHRA does not want to slow A-Fuel down but just wants to make it virtually impossible for blown alcohol to survive.

It's very sad to see sportsman racers spending money out of their pockets when it will basically come down to luck to beat an A-Fuel, why waste blood, sweat, tears & money when the governing body of the sport is not willing to step in and make it worth our while to compete and be competitive?

At the Keystone Nationals in 2003 there was an A-Fuel car that qualified very well and the car was 48 lbs over the minimum weight and running on 95% nitro. So adding weight? is that the answer?

Well, in another thread (Comp Plus rumor??), Len Imbrogno, NHRA Sportsman liaison, said that the "...issue of parity in TAD is a problem." So the sanctioning body acknowledges that a disparity exists. He went on to say that he would like to see TARA put forward a mutually agreeable solution for the NHRA to consider.

Should I start holding my breath now???

Sounds like NHRA's trying to get out of doing their Job! Asking racers to come up with a solution that everyone agree's with is pissing in the wind! You think the A-Fuel racers are going to agree with the Blown racers about anything???

I disagree. It's best if those that have the most at stake recommend a solution. Whether the BAD and AFD can agree on a solution is an entirely different matter. At this point, I haven't seen much dialog that would indicate there is a middle ground somewhere. But the NHRA is giving them the opportunity to find their own solution rather than waiting for something to be imposed upon them.
