If you lift a blower, do you replace the rods? How about if you have a burst panel, if you blow out the burst panel do you replace the rods?

No, but we would definitely pull the pan and check the bearings.

    Bent rods

When we have backfired and burst a panel I have checked the rods and both times had a bent one. The explaination being that as the manifold pressure increases during the explosion whichever intake valve was open is going to shut with 50-150 psi manifold pressure filling the cylinder. That cylinder then fires and the combustion pressure bends the rod. In one of our backfires two of the rods were bent and they were one after the other in the firing order which supports the theory.
This is different to if a burst panel simply ruptures and has a split in it. When we have BURST a panel it looks like a bomb went off behind it and the entire rectangular shape of the panel is open
If your panel looks like that or you broke some blower studs I think you should check the rods.
