kb olds oil pan size

    i'm running a kbolds blower motor in a promod is a 7 quart pan enough ? running an external wet pump thanx greg

    no....... i would get the biggest pan you can get on there with a wet sump. we run a TFX with a wet sump and a dragster pan....16-17 quarts of oil.

    I would think you would want a lot more in there too. We run a wet sump KB Olds with 15 qts total (we run a 3 qt accumulator).

    who makes a pan that big? all i found was 12 or 7 qt pans i have a 12 but it hangs so low

    Get as much oil in there as possible....I had an oiling problem on a KB Olds a few years ago with a shallow pan (no ground clearance)....on 1/8 mile runs the bearings looked OK and on 1000' or more passes the crank was blue....drain back is also an issue with these blocks, so look at the oil return path to the pan (I had Brodix 360 heads and the oil had to make a 90 degree turn at the head deck surface - drain holes were not lined up very well)....maybe a 3 qt. accumulator might be an option if oil volume is minimal....if ya wanna discuss further 515-727-1444 (ext 11) Scott Gaulter
