I could use a little help with some specs as this is going to be my first blower motor. My combination is as follows: KB stage 5 solid block, solid B1 wedge heads, SSI 1471 std. helix at 20% over, sheet metal intake, hat and port lines, large bore, short stroke Bryant crank, long rods, Jesel valve train with titanium in. and ex. valves, 446 cu. in. This will be in a 125" altered with a powerglide. Alky burner.

My questions pertain to: 1) ring end gap and what type of rings. 2) valve guide clearance on intake and exhaust. 3) piston to cylinder clearance. 4) main and rod bearing clearance with Brooks B1 rods.

Lubrication will be by dry sump system with Titan pump.

Thanks in advance for your time. I'll really appreciate any and all help/advice.

first I would use B-2 rods when you get your pistons and rings they will tell you what to file fit them to..if you are putting in new sleves when you get them they will be ready for your pistons ....Dave

Thanks for the reply, Dave. The rods ARE B2's...my mistake. What about rods, mains and valve guides? Thanks again, Mark.

I like between .003 and .0035 for the mains and .0025 and .003 for the rods, I think alot of people build them looser and that works fine too if you are going to use a 60 or 70 wt oil, I use synthetic 20-50.

    Too tight

My opinion..... those clearances would be fine for an iron block steel rod combo. Add .001 to your spec's on both main and rod and you're still conservative - in my opinion.
erroring a little loose has worked out better for me than too tight.

Should I be more like .004 or .0045? I use the 2.200 rod pins if that makes a diference.

little looser and more oil pressure saves the crank for what I was told by a TAFC crew chief.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate this! What about the valve guide clearance with titanium intakes and exhaust?
