    Aloha all:
I'm gathering components to complete a KB#7 and I've hit a stumbling point!!!
My question, On a KB#7 what is the proper tooth count of a flexplate that will allow the starter to enter through the block starter pocket. B&J converter drive , Can not purchased yet, & I'm not to keen on using an Ultrabell with the open bottom.

    Hey Doug,

A mopar flex-plate is 130 teeth if you can use the starter in the stock position.

    Aloha Ronny:
Mahalo for the info. I probably should have furnished more info!!! This is how my drive will be assembed!!! KB#7 block, to can, ( not purchased yet, most likely Browell, Lakewood or the like) what I want to accomplish on the flex plate is to run a mini starter in the location of the KB starter pocket attatched to the motor plate most likely, the flexplate will utilize the 10" powerglide converter that I already have for the B&J converter drive which I also have. When you mention 130 tooth mopar flex-plate, I get worried due to the placement of the starter ring gear!!! Mopar mounted on converter not flex-plate ??? right??? With All the different combination I'm confused.

Sorry for the confusion, Doug, I figured you were talking about a Mopar to glide or other style drive, most of which use a Chevy style flex plate, just with the 130 tooth ring gear and 6 or 8 bolt wedge or Hemi crank flange, didn't mean to make it sound like a stock Mopar/Torqueflite. I think you can special order a plate with the 153 or 168 tooth Chevy starter ring with the Mopar crank flange if you needed to move the starter to the right side under the pan rail, comes in handy if you're trying to finagle the starter around the motorplate uprights on a center-steer car.

I run a KB Stage 10 with the starter in the stock location bolted to the midplate. The flexplate is a Reactor 130 tooth ring which will handle a three or six bolt pattern convertor (Chance bolt together) in front of a B&J Quick Drive with a three speed. The Reactor for the KB was redesigned and looks more like a flywheel but works great and will handle the HP.
