Spinning the tires on a tube and liner set up

    I have a alcohol funny car and i keep spinning the tire on the rim and then cant get air in nor out of them any ideas

    liner is at 50lbs
    tire is at 5.5
    they are new and the old ones did the same thing
    and they are hoosier tires

    how much are you talking? does it shake on these runs? i've seen heavy shake move the tire 6-8 inches in one run.

    if it's going more than 6" a run, it's probably a hardware problem. either the rims are slightly undersized or the liner isn't clamping the bead of the tire good.

    the problem with the goodyear liners is you have to trim them back in a certain area to get air in them, if the tire turns past that, you can't get air in or out.

    also tire rotation is a problem because it throws the balance off.

    Well Will it turns about 3 to 4 inches on us with miner tire shake. and after that i cant get air in to the tire i have tried to trim the tire a bit as well but i am gettting pissed off already i have to cure this problem and its on both tires and the 60 ft times are slow as hell to boot .992 i need a few more ideas to try. I have also herd to put a thin sole of a shoe between them as well. were and how much to trim off the liner? and but to me it seams like the tire covers the hole not the liner

    You can also trim the inside edge of the bead to help with this problem. Trim about 8" and then center over the hole. Doug

    trimming the bead of the tire is pretty common, make sure you get a wide enough section to cover the normal turning of the tires.

    4" isn't all that uncommon, especially if you're dead hooking the tire.

    Also, if you have the dual valvestem set up, the valvestem might not be located correctly between the bead and the liner.

    The Hoosier liners are easier in that they have bigger grooves in the side to let the air through.
