Air throttle set-up. There are threads about it on here before

Like Pete said, an air throttle may help. Does the 2step mean you are leaving on a transbrake? If so, I would tune it a bit fat and leave it there. Monitor what the changes in weather mean to your ET. Adjust your dial-in to the weather, don't change pills once racing starts. If you are having traction problems at all, take some timing out and get it to leave and stay planted.

yes on a transbrake, works good, we had traction problems but drop tire pressure and it took care of it. Yes we found leaving the pills alone helpped out alot and we kept it on the rich side with only 29degress, went 6.508, 212. tried chnaging jets to the da and ended up leaving it to fat and lost the race 3 feet at grandbend national event.

Don't want to change pills in a bracket event unless you have enough history to know what it's going to do. If you leave the tune the same, the weather and track are your only variables (Except Driver). Once you change the tune, you have added another variable. That's fine if you know exactly what it will do for you but doesn't sound like you are there yet. The closer you are to optimum, the more a subtle change in the pill will affect the ET.

How close to your dial did you run in the finals and what was your R/T vs. the winner?

during qaulifying we had it down pat went 6.513, 6.516, 6.508. very tight, and my eaction were .027, .017, .021. conistent agian. We ended up fattening it up for the DA and that made us run a 6.52, i did tree him but one by .001.

I agree with what everyone has said so far, leave soft, air throttle, air/electric shifter, I would also put a box on it and pull timing at launch as its a lot easier to be consistant when the cars not violent on the line.

On top of that make sure you leave as close to the same as possible each time, same engine/trans temp, same burn out length, same depth in beams, same amount of fuel. Then log data and you will learn over time how the car changed and why and what you can and can't do to prevent it.

Last but not least, keep the driver away from caffeine, chili dogs, and loose women

Leave the tune up the same even if its wrong. My car is set up fat and I could race it out of the trailer without a time trial. Yes I have to take the valve covers off to let the water and alky evaporate. Yes I have to drain the water out of the pan before I race again the following weekend. No my car isnt blown. I also used the same dial on 1/8 mile tracks for a year and a half. My 1/4 ets varied less than .010 in that same time period. Well at least until I ate up my converter and everything but the case inside the trans...But thats another story.

If you EVER change the pill, you do it before the first TT. After that everything stays the same down to the air pressure. You should only have to change your tune a couple times a season.(cool spring, hot summer)

Go find yourself a Computech RaceAir Pro ($449 on their website) and log every complete run. It will learn your car and you will learn the timer. It wont take long before youll run the number you put on the car. I KNOW that my actual et will be less than .004 off what the computer tells me before the run.

don't mean to hijack a good thread but I'm new to the blown thing (q 10 at grand bend). My system puts the pump saver back in the hat nozzles and I'm a little worried about top end wopping it(boom)?
