If you are trying new combos on the engine, then I do it after a day of testing, unless I am getting aggressive with timing then after 1 run. If I know my combo is safe I check it after the racing weekend. Just curious but what is your bore stroke combo and timing. If you are only spinning that motor to 7500 in the 1/8 you really shouldn't need to check often after you get you combo established, unless you are running 40+ degrees of timing. I run a 496 BBC 30lbs of boost. Shift at 8,000

With that timing it looks like it should be low maint on bearings.

When I see 14° heads, my first thought is timing in the mid to high 20's.

The 14° NA stuff I help with doesn't run 32° advance and it doesn't have a blower on it. My blown motors, the heads are conventional, run in that low to mid 30 range.

A big key to how long the brgs last is the fuel tuneup.

so you are sayign motor with 14 degree heads with blower dont like 32 timing and should be high 20's or so i thought that depends on the amout of overdrive and and how good the strips are in the blower

I don't have experience with 14° heads with a blower above it, but if it were mine I would start with 25-26° ignition timing.

We were told to run 26-28 on our 14 degree Olds. We'll be on the Dyno soon so we will find out for sure.

I'd say if you run 32 you'd better be pulling the pan when you get home. And checking the top rod bearing.

What type oil filter are you using?

Real effiecent head, but most I know run them in the low to mid 30's.. If your just starting out, I say run it around 24* and go up 2 at a time till your ground strap looks good. But chase the tune with it as you raise the timing if you dont have a baseline to start.
