Racepak 4000

As mentioned in the thread on Fuel System Software I recently got my hands on a Racepak 4000 and am evaluating it to see if it meets our needs - it may be an old unit but it comes from the same era as our motor (Rodeck with Bac-Man heads and an 8-71 Danekas blower).

Theoretically it will do what we want - 3 RPM channels and analogue inputs. No EGT support from what I can tell (this was a factory fitted option) which would be nice but some data is better than no data. I'm currently running through the unit testing various functions out but I am having trouble getting data out of the unit - I don't have a 24 volt power supply so cannot try the printer out, and am not getting very far with the data transfer cartridge.

I have hooked it up to the unit with the switch on display, turned the unit on and waited but the red led never starts to flash which indicates data transfer is complete. Does anyone know how long this is supposed to take?

 

As always happens after asking a question I answered it on my own - by changing the bank switch it all worked. Next question: what does this switch do?

I have already fired off an email to him (wrong side of the pond for phone calls), am assuming they have been busy at an event over the weekend so will be in touch soon.

 

Does anyone have an email address for someone at Racepak? I have not had a reply from Todd (not sure if the email address was right mind) and although I have registered for the forum on their site it still has not been authorised so I cannot ask there - a shame as it appears quite active.
