Jim,you may want to try posting a WTB in the classifieds for a manifold.
You also could try a PM to "WILDCHLD" on this site. He has plenty stuff for BBC!! As to the setback, i have not long finished a sheetmetal manifold for my SB, i have a HH/retro 14-71 and got a 10" snout made. It's moved the "pie" to the centre of the manifold. I made sure there was a tag left on the snout to attach a turnbuckle to the idler bracket as it's a looong snout! I also put one from the back of the blower adapt. plate to the bellhousing bolts as it hangs over the rear of the manifold by about 8"
Hope it works as i havn't had time to test as yet,but the guy who made the snout for me swears by movin' them back. We'll see:D
Also Jim,there's a 7" littlefield snout on Ebay atm if your interested.

I think that the more you move the blower back to the center will be advantages to your air distribution. We have a 517 BBC with a 1471 moved 4" and still have a .025" stager in the ports. This is however with a cast manifold.

The word is, that 2" set back appears to be the optimim (best), the discharing air exits these blowers at quite a sharp angle forward, approx 45 degrees.

i have a 2" set back plate and I am also about 12 numbers different front to back with the rears still colder. I have a very small nozzel (30) in the back holes now, and am concerned about going any smaller.
