bbc 548 compression

    need your input i have a cam with 110 lobe separation 286 298 duration at .050. putting a 10/71 hhr on it .how much diff would it give me to switch to a 114 cam. also if i run the 110 cam could i get away with running moore comp. 13.1or im asking for trouble . whats the limmit on comp. thanks jim

    You need a blower cam,..and 13.1 is asking for trouble
    typically compression is around 10.1 up to 11.5 some 12.1
    the cam you listed is a for big compression and a
    Naturally asperated bracket motor. just my opinion.

    yep it was in my rear engine dragster fast bracket q32 but still how much diff. would a 114 sep compair to a 110 be . a loader exhaust,less boost?

    Jim, i have two sbc's,one has a 106 L/S the other a 114. With the 106 the engine was real agressive on the step but seemed to "Nose over" at about 1000ft. The same engine was ran with the 114 and although not quite as agressive, it PULLS:eek: at the top end, HAARD!!
    Also the 106 showed 31psi of boost which i find hard to believe with the old 8-71 that's on the engine:rolleyes:(possibley loading the cyls?)
    And yes the 106 was from a circuit car, but that's all i had.
    Great for 1/8th mile:D
    The rule of thumb ive been told by a couple of cam grinders over here in Oz, was to spread out the lobes as much as you can, to clear the cylinder as much as possible. True??

    thanks for your guys input like rugster said it what he had so he ran it. so mutch to change and bye for this blower addiction lol . thanks again
