Im new to blowers, I started my motor for the first time yesterday and everything was good. I run 8 hat nozzels and port nozzles, at an idle cylinders 1 and 2 are considerably richer than the other 6. Just checking with you guys to see if this makes sence.

If I take the front two hat nozzles out and fatn up the rears will that help or will the fuel still get pushed forward at an idle.

A couple of variables to the answers to come,....

1,.. you could put smaller nozzles in the front, which would also
fatten up the backs and increase fuel psi a little.but dont take away from
the front and put bigger in the back,..by changing the front to smaller will automaticaly put more to the rest of the nozzles

2,..what pound (lbs) are your port nozzles/port check opening at,.??

3,.. Or just take a flat or two out of the barrel valve...

do you know what your fuel pressure is,..???
do you have a data logger..???

Idle EGTs can vary from 400 to 700 *F. The question is do you care as long as the staging EGTS are where they should be. Do you know what the EGts are at idle?

It is not unusual for the front 2 cylinders to be rich at idle, even (especially) when up at stage rpm. It all depends on the blower, if it is a hi-helix retrofit, and in good shape, it will push lots of air up to the front, so you will need that fuel. I would run it down the track first and look at the plugs.

This is an old 8-71 standard helix at 28 % over, and a crower 8 port injector.
I know im probably asking to much from 1970's technology

The port check is set at 8 psi.

Idle fuel pressure is around 16 psi at 1600 rpm I don't have a data logger, but I have a pressure gauge between the pump and the barrel valve.

If your port check is set @ 8lbs. and your idle is set @ 16lbs then is your port nozzles dribbling a little?
I love the old Crower injectors.
My wife wants to know why we have one race car and five Crower injectors:confused:

My 16 psi idle pressure is on the pump side of the barrel valve, and the port injectors are plumbed from the motor side of the barrel valve, I dont think Im building 8 psi on the bottom side of the BV.

And yes, you just cant beat the look of an old Crower hat. I'd like to find a spare.
