Would like some input from people with experience. What do you recommend for fuel distribution between the hat and intake percentage wise? Going to run a 512 KB, Aj heads, 1471, converter in front of a B&J 3 speed, in a 1800# dragster. I have a very simple system - no electronic fuel management. 17.2 gpm pump, pump loop if needed and a high speed if needed. I've had more help than I need and it has been costly. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, I just want to learn and get down the track without hurting more parts.

I just retired from a hydraulic pump manufacter, and understand the basic hydraulics. I flowed the system (but not with a tuning expert as you suggested) after listening to the wrong people and cooked the rings, but still don't know what works best. 50 -50 or 60% in the hat and 40% in the intake, or some other distribution. Just looking for input on distribution between the hat and intake.
    Thanks

70 % hat nozzles, 30% port nozzles, http://fuelinjectionenterprises.com/tuneup.htm check this site out and it would be smart to have the system flowed, By Spud Miller. ;)

On a Rootes blower 60% in the hat or as much as you can get in the hat to cool the incoming charge and lubricate the blower. The only hold back is if the port nozzle jets get too small and can block from dirt. I don't like to go below a 38 jet in the port and try and keep them above 40. The problem is the whole fuel system interacts upon itself. As you know with your background in hydraulics you have to balance the jet area against the pump flow against the fuel pressure.

    Mike,
Thanks for the feed back, now I know I'm not completely in left field. I was working on a system that would be 60-70% in the hat was told I was nuts. I would have a couple of 34's in the intake, but I can change that and still keep the pressure I want.
    Thanks again. Moore

i have been told that the 60%/40% split on the roots is a good baseline. I have port nozzels down to 30's in my manifold. I needed to do this to keep the fuel pressure up with my pump (13.2 gal). I have had 2 nozzels pplug during a run, but found out that fuel was installed in the fuel cell without the funnel filter, BAD! I am now going to install a filter between the pump and the barrel valve to eliminate the possibility of this happening again. my combo is a BBC conventional headed motor with a Kobelco 8-71. Runs 6.70's @ 197.
hat nozzels are 46's and ports are between 30's and 38's

Mike, any truth about pointing the nozzles in the hat upward instead of down into the blower to further cool and vaporize the fuel?

I tried it that way and I didn't see any difference and turned them back down.

TO ALL call Randy Anderson he has a filter that go in the main fuel line fitting on the barrel valve that should end all your dirty fuel issues
