What do most people see for EGT temp at idle. Setup is a Hemi, 6-71 blower, hats and ports. Thanks for the info.

Average 400-450*. Sometimes the back ones go up higher because of manifold didtribution problems. If the idle temps are close then it is more important to be around 600-620* average at stage.

    EGT Temp.

Mike,600-620* sounds a little cold:eek: Is that what you usually chase? Plenty guys here downunder look for anywhere from 800-850*.Any reason why so cold?
Is'nt it better to have the engine a little hotter for the step?
I always thought that the warmer the engine was on the step the more fuel it will handle downtrack:confused:
Having said that, what cylinder "head" temp should i be looking for?
    Jason.

65dodge asked about a Rootes blower and not a screw blower. You want 600-620* average at stage and an average of 810-820* at one second into the run. If you are any cooler on stage the EGTs cylinders will be too cold and will take too long to make power after the launch.

Mike, I look for 750-800 on a rootes car. That's how I run one. Not saying your wrong at all, cause there is more than 1 way to run a car. But I do know of guys who run stuff in that temperature range. They just run the car really safe though. There are plenty of ways to wake the car up though, so it may work for you.

BTW, are you guys going to run the car anytime this year Mike?

JRB, I find the most important thing at stage on a Two Step is the GPM. (I will not give that out). At that GPM that is the EGTs we get.

Hopefully we will blow the dust off the car within the next month and make some runs.

True. When its on the 2 step is what I look at as well. The GPM is key! Depends on quite a few things too, as you very well know.

Good luck with the car this year.

you have me thinking again- we run jr. fuel, 396 sb chevy all steel.
dyno pulls, 145* engine temp 911 hp, fatten it up - 919 hp 145*temp lean it out 888 hp. 145 temp. 900* eg. temps 1150 after the pulls, question is at what temperature does the engine need to be to get the full effect of running on alcohol????
    7.11 @ 176 mph
just need some ideas to wake me up and think out side the box again
    thanks steve m.
