In light of another divisional track having a sand trap hard enough you could drive a pickup over it, I strongly urge drivers to inspect the condition of sand traps and shut down areas before divisional events.

David Brounkowski skipped right over the Texas Motorplex's sand trap, which according to numerous sources that were on the scene, barely left the indention of tire tracks. The car was destroyed after it went through the net at a high rate of speed.

If the track management isn't going to take the time to make sure the trap is conditioned for 280 mph cars, maybe if you, the drivers, band together, they'll run a plow or box blade through it to loosen it up.

I attended a swap meet at Englishtown many months after the Scott Kalitta incident. Same thing. The pea gravel was hard and compacted and contaminated with organics with weeds growing through it. You would have no problem driving a crew cab through it. I sure hope they have done something to improve its stopping ability by now.

Constant concern for those involved , but NOBODY said a word about Norwalk last year ?? It is a nice little Airport down there , pretty rough to get down to and you know you only had to clean the grass stains from the twisted wreckage .......... because there never used to be any gravel or cultivation done . I don't know if this has been attended to now the New net rules are in Place . Great tip to take a look before you run , ask about the fire equipment , support staff ambulance etc .
