Huge thanks to the Top Alcohol competitors for an awesome show this weekend. Congrats to the Harker and Shields teams on the Wallys.

Just as much congrats to the Foster team for running STOUT. Certainly no one hit wonder there Will.

And finally props to Chris Demke for only taking out the cone on an underwear soiling lap. My first time seeing a dragster try to turn 90 degrees at 230 mph and not hit a wall or the other car.

The people got their money's worth. Jeff did a good job of keeping his damage lower than it could've been too.

Let's keep my underwear out of the discussion, can we? :)

I got to watch the replay on a TV down at the shutdown area. I honestly do not know how I saved it, but I did. I was very close to getting 'another' helicopter flight to the hospital  I am just thankful that I am still here to talk about it.
Anyway, congrats to Duane and team! Houston is definitely Duane's track!

    Chris Demke is my hero!!

That was a great job of saving the race car. Man, oh man, from the stands we were all in awe and if you couldn't here it you had an ovation from everyone is section JJ (no joking, that was my section). Great job of driving, all weekend, not just saving a crashed race car! Keep up the good work and good luck!

Thanks Jonathan, that makes me feel a little better, but I am certainly not proud of that display of foolishness. Anyone who watches this on ESPN2 (next saturday morning at 10AM ET, 7AM PT) is either going to see a great job of driving, or a lucky SOB who kept his foot in it too long, wanting his first National event win more than he wanted to stay alive! :( Thankfully I kept the shiny side shiny and get to race again another day.
For the record, while DragRaceCentral didn't show my ET, my time slip shows Duane with a 5.36 and I had a 5.37, holeshot win  Who put those cones out there anyway??? ;)

I hope this post doesn't get deleted due to excessive use of smilies :D

Blown car in the final in the land of A Fuel Dragsters!

Chris if it was the finish line cone, you stopped the clocks in both lanes at the same time! Nice driving job. Cant wait till next weekend to see the tape when they broadcast it at one am or whatever. ill stay up! Wonder what that would have looked like if you had your on board youtube camera?

    Chris,

I don't know about you, but I think everyone who drives, or has driven these things has kept there foot in it too long more than once. Don't beat yourself up too much. Sure, you realize you made a mistake, but you definitely took what could have been bad and made a helluva recovery. For the record Chris, it was 5.37 at somewhere around 225, so I'm just saying a mid to high 20 was there. Nice job, and the way you have been driving a National win is not too far away. Keep up the good work and make the trek back to Texas in the fall.

I found the following photo online:

    http://kingnitro.smugmug.com/gallery/7765341_BPy7g/6/502317915_UA4Jz/Medium

I couldn't remember which cones I hit, but it looks like the 1000' and it's associated speed trap cone (for the Pros). The finish line cones are still intact. Sorry, no on-board video of this one...

:eek:Jeebus!! Nice save indeed! The front tires look to be aimed the right direction when the photo was snapped. Had a couple "closer than I'd like" moments when we switched from TAD to TAFC years back...luckily there's no photographic proof...that I know of...

    Chris,

Were you driving with one hand on the butterfly, and the other pushing on the FM button?

Remember, we used a switch..... ;)
