There's no 'How to build a winning top alcohol motor'.... Buy one from Brad or one of the others if you can afford it. To start with try to get a used one with a known history. The seller will probably help to set it up and explain do's and dont's. And after that you can ask just about any question right here.
For general info: 'The racing engine builder's handbook by Tom Monroe - HP Books 1492' and 'Fuel system instruction manual by Ken Lowe - www.kenlowe.com.au'

Sorry, there aren't any all inclusive books on this topic that I am aware of.

There are several books which will give you some thought starters, and there are a few complimenting websites with experienced members, but none of these alone will tell you how to build a serious TA or TF motor and tune it.

My suggestions to you would be these, as I was in your same position many years ago.......

There are courses which you can attend in person and during which you can get your fingers dirty actually building TA and TF engines, and also during these courses you can ask the how/why things work type questions. Such courses are dotted across North America, and can be a fun holiday experience away from the grind of normal life.

The other option is to volunteer your labour to a Pro team, and in turn ask that they teach you the ins & outs of the sport and the hardware. You need to be ready to commit to a full season, and you should expect to handle the grunt jobs with great enthusiasm, unless of course they promote you based upon your shown skills.

Either approach is very effective in terms of educating yourself. In either approach you are "paying your own way", so don't feel the least bit embarassed about asking questions and soaking up all that you can learn. Take good notes and have a camera ready to snap pictures as the experience evolves. After one or more of these experiences you will begin to have your own thoughts and ideas and confidences, to add to what you have just learned.

Volunteering your time to a team is worth whatever that amount of time is worth to you, which is a variable quantity for each of us. If your time available is limited by professions or occupation, then a course is perhaps a better alternative and can range from $1K to $4K per week or more, plus travel, depending upon where/what/when.

Hope that helps. Drop a PM if any questions. Have fun learning, as the "Have Fun" part is the most important part of this learning game.

    Very good answer!:)

I've been there and done that! Ask the questions and then take the answers you get to the next level! Don't forget that everyone has an opinion and some of them are not correct. Sort out the BS and you will learn what you want to learn:D
