It's great to be recognized as being primed for growth! We at IHRA have known it and ask you to take notice!

    Thanks-

IHRA Poised for Growth; National Sports Marketing Publication Recognizes IHRA’s Potential for Explosive Growth

Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal has released the results of its annual SBJ/SBD Reader Survey, and the results of one question in particular tell the story of IHRA’s future prospects.

In the category “Motorsports property best positioned for growth,” the International Hot Rod Association finished fourth in the balloting. This question took into consideration all motor sports sanctioning bodies in all forms of racing across the globe. IHRA finished ahead of NASCAR, World of Outlaws, SCCA, Grand Am Series and Formula 1 to name a few.

“SportsBusiness Journal is the Bible when it comes to sports marketing, sponsorship, research and media,” IHRA director of communications Michael Perry said. “Their poll reinforces what we at the IHRA World Headquarters have known for some time…that we are in a very unique, very beneficial position to really build something special. While it’s nice to be recognized for our potential, we’re looking forward to being recognized for our results as well. That day is coming very soon.”

According to the publication’s mission statement, “Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal is a weekly publication that provides the critical news and information sports industry leaders need to compete, negotiate and succeed. Every issue features coverage of the deals, trades, contracts and boardroom power plays that shape the rapidly-changing sports industry.”

“The business is changing and we are in a great position,” IHRA president Aaron Polburn said. “We have many flexible sponsorship opportunities available for corporations to take advantage of, and I expect IHRA to have non-traditional companies get involved as well as traditional racing-related manufacturers. We have a number of unannounced deals already in place and are looking to build on what we feel is a very strong roster of sponsors and marketing partners. This is a very exciting time to be involved with IHRA Drag Racing.”

Here's a quote that should be added:

"First, we'll get rid of the cars that put on the show giving the racers and fans no reason to come through the gates. That will put us in a position to find new marketing partners for struggling corporate America as we seek to introduce folks to the now empty pits and grandstands at each of our fine events."

That's one way to look at crap in the toilet just before you push the flush lever.

I just figured they had the most growth potential because it'll either disappear or grow. Tremendous growth potential means "we have a lot of people in the lurch. We need more money." Similar kind of ploy to those Miller Lite claims that they have more "Taste" than Bud Light; doesn't say anything about the "Taste" being good.

    free entry!

Glad to see they made entry free for car, driver, and a few crew for the PM and PS teams...convieniently after they turfed funny cars. It only cost us about $1000 to get our funny car, driver, and crew in to our home track for one race since 2004...glad to see they are growing so much they can afford to allow racers to put on a show for free...ish.

    Ihra

I do not know where you could have possibly come up with the idea that IHRA is more popular than NASCAR. NHRA is the second most popular in the world, right behind NASCAR. NASCAR is said to be at tha top, even in the marketing papers that HHRA sends out. Dealing with reality is the 1st step in building the proper foundation to any successful business.

NASCAR is at LEAST second behind Formula 1 if you're talking about the world.

Just more of Aaron's and Skooter's smoke and mirrors crap. They are are dying which is very sad because when Mr. Bader ran the ship the Night of Fire was great, the fields were great and it was fun to go watch 16 car fields in Alcohol Funny Car, Pro Mod and Pro Stock. Maybe they are going to let the fans come for free to make them come because who would stupid enough to pay to watch 3 classes with 8 car fields. Norwalk puts on a better show probably every other weekend and losing Milan made one less IHRA race that was close to watch go by the wayside. We used to go to Cordova as well but it to is gone aso that leaves only Martin and you can count on my group not going to watch them race there without 16 car fields and Alcohol Funny Car. I would rather watch paint dry as watch a bunch guys ride motorcycles up and down the return road while there are oil downs and now no cars to put on a show. The sad thing is this leaves only NHRA to watch because the two NASCAR races my wife and I went to at MIS last year were at best boring as shit. The cars of the future rate rate up there with the IHRA oil downs and clean up crew which is somewhere near the bottom of the heap.

Which makes about as much sense as the new "Drinkability" advertising campaign. I would HOPE you're ABLE to drink it! :D

I'm just surprised someone at the ad firm didn't raise their hand and say "Guys? Shouldn't we raise the bar a little higher than drinkABILITY?"

They know their market. :) CHUGability would've been more appropriate though. lol.

Their next campaign should include "Great for rinsing the taste of Methanol and clutch dust from your mouth."
