Hi guys! Here in Germany we run an old KB Hemi Stage III solid block with KB water heads with a 14/71 on alcohol. We want to fill the heads with blockfiller. Does this make sense or should we stay with water in the heads? Is there any special filler for heads? Thanks for posting here!!

    Chevy experience

I've never filled heads and have mostly ran water heads dry. I've never had a reason to.

Although I've wondered why Devcon or blockhard would not work:confused:

I would think it would be hard to weld on them if they were filled.

    Good point!
Has anyone filled there water heads with aluminum? Like melted aluminum and poured it in?

This maybe a dumb question but,,, What fails because its a water jacketed head? is it more prone to chamber cracks or ?

I've detonated the sh!@ out of 1500 HP motors for long periods of time and not hurt the water heads. Besides the "bad porosity" looking marks in the chambers.

    block filler

I think the fillers are made to expand like or close to cast iron. I think it is a good Idea but when the alum.expands the hardened filler would be loose inside the casting. I wonder if you could pre heat the head and keep it hot and then fill it and let it set up and then cool it off . JM2cent:cool

    Block Filler

HI, thanks for response. The reason we want to fill the heads is to make them stiffer for staying alive, and get more heat inside the engine. The heads are in good condition without any cracks. I think today it's easier to get Brad heads of any size than the old large port KB heads (if anybody have a good pair for sale, let me know). So we want to do the best thing for the heads to stay with them on the track. Again, thanks for posting insidetopalcohol.
