This seems to apply to business, politics, as well as racing and many other areas in the human existence:

Dakota tribal wisdom says that when you discover you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. However, in business we often try other strategies with dead horses, including the following:

    1. Buying a stronger whip.
    2. Changing riders.
    3. Say things like, "This is the way we have always ridden this horse."
    4. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
    5. Arranging to visit other sites to see how they ride dead horses.
    6. Increasing the standards to ride dead horses.
    7. Appointing a tiger team to revive the dead horse.
    8. Creating a training session to increase our riding ability.
    9. Comparing the state of dead horses in todays environment.
    10. Change the requirements declaring that "This horse is not dead."
    11. Hire contractors to ride the dead horse.
    12. Harnessing several dead horses together for increased speed.
    13. Declaring that "No horse is too dead to beat."
    14. Providing additional funding to increase the horse's performance.
    15. Do a Cost Analysis study to see if contractors can ride it cheaper.
    16. Purchase a product to make dead horses run faster.
    17. Declare the horse is "better, faster and cheaper" dead.
    18. Form a quality circle to find uses for dead horses.
    19. Revisit the performance requirements for horses.
    20. Say this horse was procured with cost as an independent variable.
    21. Promote the dead horse to a supervisory position.

22a. Promote a "Beat the Dead Horse" event in which participants get their photos taken at $10 a whack.

22b. Run an ad for already tenderized horse meat.

22b, Mmmmmmmmmm....I'm going to get the bq fired up right now! But when you come to think of it, is that hamburger or a McQuarterhorse that we're already eating?

That's some funny shit right there, until you think about our current government.
I think it would be putting the dead horse in front of a cart and then hanging a carrot on a string in front of its nose to speed up the dead horse.

I'm sure there's a percentage that we can blend the horse meat in at and still legally call it hamburger.

I thought last night about what the first part of 22a should have been. "Set up a non profit organization to run the fundraiser. Be sure advertising includes "It's for the children." Pay officers enough that we zero out with 90% overhead. Get government grants to study the possible psychological benefits of beating an actual dead horse" :)

Maybe Knoll Gas and Lend America should sponsor the dead horse?

Hey Don, you ok? Can't believe we haven't heard from you on this one. Here's a topic that ought to revive this thread. Pomona TAFC entry.

Don, as one who was affected by national event class size limitations (last year I think) what do you think of our current Pomona entry list? 35 cars! And that doesn't include a couple of really strong regulars normally there.
    What say you?

    They are ALL tough

I have been very frustrated with the powers that be at the sanctioning body with regards to Pomona entries. I hope with our current economic climate, the "grade point" system will get put on the shelf, and allow people that want to and are capable of racing, be allowed to race. It wasnt that long ago that 35 cars was a D7 points meet...
