If anynone is running one of these, would like to ask you a couple of questions. How much power will they support and how reliable? How has your experience been?

Making plans for next year. PM box is about full so use whome@look.ca

    Thanks.

Hands down, one of the most bitchin' motors to maintenance, run and fix. Bob and the guys make a killer engine.

And as far as power, well, we made a 3050lb Pro Mod go 6.29 @ 230+. Thats with a PSI C rotor, and a clutch. They make great power, and the service from Bob is second to none.

We run Bob's stuff in our 2 wheel drive pulling trucks and have had great success and reliability out of them. We run the tall deck (11.2) 557cid combinations with 14-71 roots. Bob is very helpful and they are a breeze to work on. I would highly reccommend the combination.. Hope this helps.:) Jessie

Is the Fontana basically the same as the Miner, or different? I thought the Fontana was a renamed version of the cast Arias 8.3?......

Just out of curiosity, what are the popular bore & stroke sizes for the Miner in AFC, and are most still using the chev mains & hemi rods?

Thanks everyone for the input. Dave, I will call.

The Arias was sold to Joe Fontana years ago..which is why the name Fontana came about. Then 3 years ago the Miner Bros aka Bob Miner bought out Joe Fontana. Thus the MBR engine (Miner Bros Racing not BMR). So just so everyone is keeping up. The 8.3 Arias went to Fontana which then went to the Miner Bros. The recent success of the MBR motors can be directly related to the fact that Bob is the one developing it. Just ask Doug Gordon, Clint Thompson, Steve Gasperelli, Ken Perry, and many others how they like em. And Ed Schmeekle has been running Fontana's/MBR engines for years, so I am guessing he must like em.
Oh and as far as how much horsepower can it handle... 2 of the fastest blown dragsters in the country should be a good indication of how much they handle haha.
In qustions about the motor and give Bob a call. http://www.minerbrosracing.com/Contact.html

    MBR motors

The current MBR racing engines are top notch stuff. Bob has refined the old Fontana combination into a very reliable, easy to maintain, powerful engine. We have run them for years. Bottom end is stable, valve train is trouble free, pull the heads with the manifold still on motor, bottom end bolt on pan rail extentions lessen the chance of having to weld up your block in the event of a rod failure. Valve springs (steel) last 25 runs plus at over 10,000 rpms. Rear main issues are non-existant due to the chevy style thrust main on the rear. yes we run chevy mains and chrysler rods. The service from Bob is excellent. You will spend less money racing competitively with a MBR than anything else. I never even pulled the heads off the motor in my car for the past 17 runs (since we put it in before Brainered) just ran 5.61 in Dallas on run 17. Check out the performance of Doug Gordon, Steve Gasparelli, Joey Severence, Ken Perry, Bret Williamson, Mark Woznichak, Larry Miner etc. and you will find that the performance is there. 5 of the 8 TAFC's qualified in Bakersfield two weeks ago had Bob Miner engines in them.

    call bob 209-609-3030;)

Tell us how you really feel!

I guess I could be considered one of the first "Miner" engine guys since I ran an Arias hemi in my altered about 30 years ago. It was the original 3 pushrod engine.

It was provided to me as I was their official test dummie by Nick Arias and Dave Calvert. For those who care to know, it was built by Steve Montrelli in "The Bomb Shop."

Back before we knew better, it finally threw the rods out. Bill Miller asked me "How many runs did those rods have on them?"

"Two hundred and fifty" I replied.

If I recall Brent Bramley experimented with a six cylinder version of the three push rod Arias in his TAD many years ago. If you have a very old national dragster laying around. The graphic over the column "bits from the pits" was a photo negative of an Arias three push rod engine with the valve cover off. When Gary Southern in Dale Smart's TAD won Indy running teens debuting a then brand new PSI it had an Arias under it. Top Fuel racer Bill Miller ran an Arias for many a year. The year Ed Vicroy ran a 5.77 - 253 run of the decade in an A Fuel dragster at Pomona that was with an Arias tuned by Gene Adams, Gene also tuned Dennis King's Arias powered "Asian Flew" A/Altered which I recall was very very quick.
