KB eating pistons

    Our KB stage 10 is eating our pistons, after 3 rounds they look awful.
    Did not have the same problems with the BAE engine we ran before. pistons, clearence oil is the same.
    4,310 bore 526 cui. BAE stage 5 fatheads. whipple A980

    Check for leaking around intake manifold, where the lifter vally is.

    Its on the skirt they look bad

    What lloks bad on the skirst. Are they galling, cracked or black looking?

    which side of the skirt? exhaust or intake side, or both?

    Either way according to a well known piston company I just talked to this means that the skirt to cylinder wall clearance is either too loose or too tight. If it is more on one side than another can mean too loose and on both sides would be too tight.

    on the 1,3,5,7 its hurt on the intake side
    2,4,6,8 exh side is uggly

    hurt skirts

    these are the thrust sides of the piston which would seem to indicate a very loose condition.
    what size are sleeves with bore gauge?
    also have seen this condition when someone ran rich nitro mix with uncoated pistons. chuck
