I have a way to slow down the "big show" cars, plus it would give them extra parts with spending any more money (except in alky dragster, and F/C).

    T/F and F/C,
    1 44amp mag only,
1 spark plug per cylinder only,
1 90 gpm fuel pump max (no overdriving the pump)
    Leave everything else alone.

    TA/D and TA/FC
    1 44 amp mag
1 spark plug per cylinder only
Blowers no bigger than a 14-71 standard helix only
1 90 gpm fuel pump max (no overdriving of fuel pump)
    Leave everything else the same

    AF/D
    1 44 amp mag
    1 spark plug per cylinder
1 90 gpm fuel pump max (no overdriving of fuel pump)
    Leave everthing else the same

    P/S
1 1150 cfm 4barrel carb only (no "split" carb)
    Leave everything else the same

Might have to have a 1" hose out the back of the car for that pump and blower combo! Otherwise it might blow the tank out of the car:D:eek:

For what its worth and maybe it isn't related...as far as "down time" due to oil downs, guess what class has been the "cleanest" among the IHRA Pro classes...Alcohol Funny Car! And they used to say we were the worst offenders?!

Witness Von Smith going off the end of the track Summit Motorsports Park, and Von managed to steer his car from the tree that got cut down soon afterwards, if that tree had been exactly right at the end of the sand trap he might have nailed it.

Kenneth, don't you think that Von could've stopped OK had his chute come out earlier? Why not examine that, instead of theories that would cost a Boat load of cash?

Better slow down the pro stockers, too. Greg Anderson lit up the brakes a couple times.

How about a speed limit sign. "SPEED LIMIT 199". If you go too fast you'll get a ticket. LOL.

My car went into the net at 60-70 miles per hour in Seattle last week and tore it up pretty good, and I'm still the last guy that wants to slow down the alky cars.

If I had my choice, we'd be running the Gizmo "C" blower at 125% overdrive with that 90 gallon pump Bob says is too big. Of course, the last thing the boss wants to see is 300 mile per hour TA/FC's. That would make the big show look silly, I guess.

How about 1000 ft tracks.....limiting blower overdrive to control the air...I think then the fuel volume will have to be reduced to make power...but less power if the overdrive is say.....30% over.....if the top fuel and funny cars still run much over 300 in 1000ft...the reduce the od to 25%. the od can be calculated ( I think) by counting the teeth on the pulleys....therefore it would not take much to make this change....the tracks already know the 1000 ft times and all that would have to be added is the mph clocks....
The problem I can see with restricting the fuel is that there will be many burned pistons and prolly many blower explosions....If they just run too rich...they will slow down and not hurt too much. Dont change the rear end ratios or anything at first.....changes can be made as time and experience is gained......it will stilll be a great show, fire out the headers, long burnouts, 300 mph...and less engine revolutions per run....I know that our afd motor looks better if shut off at 1000 ft rather than 1320 ft. I know that there have many cures suggested and prolly will be many more....but this seems to me to be an easy, quick fix without much expense to either side. Please give it some thought and make comments.....I prolly have missed some important things that might make this idea not doable.....
    Thanks for your time....

    Single Spark Plug?

Is a single plug nitro engine a safe?

man, you are out of the loop huh?
anyway, you don't need to slow these cars down.
the best way is to take the blowers off the Top Fuel cars. it's that simple.
move A/Fuel to Top Fuel, and lets have new race to the 4's @ 300mph!
give Bill Reichert 100% and clutch management, and he'll rip old Allen Johnson a new one.
leave the blown alcohol guys alone where they want to be, and solve the parity issue once and for all.
get some new faces on ESPN (i don't know about you guys, but i get a little bored seeing the same 16 pros every time)
imagine seeing 30+ pros fighting it out for 16 spots, like we had in chicago a couple weeks ago(TAD)....the only difference is, this would happen every weekend!

    no, i'm not kidding...

you took it out of context buddy...
allan would have to give up his blower, and 70 some odd cubes....
i bet boggs, conway, reichert, snow, and others could get a handle on clutch management, quicker than allen, coil, flynn and others, could come to terms with life without their blower.

Alan has dominated no matter what he has in the frame rails... The same cannot be said for Bill...

For you to say that Bill would rip Alan a new one is being naive on your part...

You are getting closer to spelling Alan's first name correctly... I'm impressed...

I remember Alan winning right off the bat when HE was driving the rodeck alky dragster. Alan never lost the handle he has had practically from day one. Alan manufactures blocks AND heads!! Do you rememember the season NHRA was trying to slow Blaine and Alan down by changing head weight break rules no less than three times in one season? (remember the Kosky "hemiroid" ballast bar? THAT season) and Alan changed heads to comply and didnt miss a beat!!
