If the leaded fuel ban continues on schedule will there be any reason to continue to repare the track? the ban includes nitro doesnt it? I hope they will lift this proposed ban on you guys.

    Toronto IHRA Race

The leaded gas issue has been extended for another 2 years. Given that the majority of the income TMP makes is from the national event, they should have done the upgrades.
The comment that the weather has effected track upgrades is crap, the weather up here for the last few years has been great construction weather. One can only assume that the track owners didn't want to put the money into the track upgrades.

The problem with the weather has been on the race weekend, it has rained every weekend the event has been held for the last couple of years. Spectator parking has been an issue, with the grass becoming a mudhole, and people having to call tow trucks to get out.

My guess is that IHRA wanted that fixed and the track wouldn't do it.

The problem as I see it is some of the local racers build 2 race sponsor deals up here based on a published schedule by a recognized racing organization.

To cancel a race in this manner is totally unprofessional. I know when I worked with Spiro and the Konrodz gang we would would always promote the Canadian races and make things happen. To pull the plug now .......that blows

    RE: Nitro?

Lead is added to Nitro. There is another additive but for some reason it's not being used yet.

Sanair was dropped in part due to the leaded gas issue and also because of the track issues and improvements needed.

Cayuga was told last year that certain improvements needed to be made and didn't do them - hence the cancellation. IHRA gave them a mandate and they didn't comply.

They should not have been racing at Cayuga anyway, there were no certified ambulances at the track. The track would not pay Haldimand EMS to be on scene. They used a transfer company and promoted them as EMS which violated IHRA insurance policy. Not only did this violate the insurance policy, the drivers promoting themselves as paramedics broke the law as you can only be a working paramedic if you work for a certified service and in this case they weren't.

Cuyuga nhra WWCS, those were the days.

    Wow, Lucky nobody got hurt.
It has been ages since I have been to Cayuga. The early eighties when there was a NHRA WWCS points race there in the early spring. The frost heave one year was pretty significant as it heaved the concrete starting slab up above the asphalt transition at least a good inch about 30 feet out. Which played havoc with an alcohol dragster. Also the pipes were broken in the rest rooms because of the winter freeze. Staff was short as I remember after our qualifying pass we had to push Bruce Horner back out of the grass on the top end along side us when his chute didn't open. I remember the spectators liked their beer as you ran the gauntlet back up the return road on the north eastern side. I bet the track looks a whole lot different today.
