Just reading the update on NHRA website about the new lowes track.

700 feet of footings for the center concrete wall and the footings for the outside retaining walls have been built.

zMax Dragway will be only the second dragstrip that the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series visits where the entire quarter-mile is concrete and the only four-lane dragstrip in the United States.

Any one know how this is going to work?

so they are going to put a concrete barrier down the middle for 700ft? thats different. might be cool to see 4 cars make a pass together. it was done many years ago. beserko bob? a 4way sudden death final  talk about the ground shaken!

    4 lane

my guess is they will alternate 'tracks' if one is oiled down, the alternate track will be used, etc. i would also guess this track would have turnouts on each side. such a track could minimize down time considerably. conversely, running more than 2 cars at once could result in multiple oil downs at once..

Kinda wild deal. Its interesting that when Bruton and Co. built the Strip at LVMS, there was talk that eventualy it would be widend to accomomodate 2 more lanes. Thats why the scoreboards up there are so far away from the track. Maybe Bruton will wait and see how zMax works out and then make the change to Vegas

You think any Safety safari crew will have the Stones to clean one track while they send cars down the other? I still can't see how this can work without problems, will cars get one qualifying lap on all 4 lanes?

    Clean up Guys

Whomever volunteers to go out there and clean up while the fuel funny cars are running should get a raise.
