Just completed our first visit to the PRI show in Orlando. Other commitments only allowed time for a day and a half visit to the show so our pace was hectic to see everything. What a great show. Really needed more time to revisit some of the booths of special interest.
We were fortunate to run into Willa Hanna during our travels at the show. We discussed our shared concerns regarding the future of the alcohol funny car class and yes, Will did provide the donuts at the Taylor Motorsports booth. Thanks again Will for spending the time with us.
We also ran into fellow competitor Nancy Matter and spent some time with her. Thanks Nancy for stopping to say hello and we look forward to seeing you on the track next season.
Despite the hectic pace, we got to talk to Don Garlits, Clay Millican, Melanie Troxel, Paul Smith, Terry McMillen, “Beserko Bob” from Gilbertson’s team, Doug Kuch of the Foley & Lewis team and several other drag racing personalities. We also saw some of the celebrities from the television shows Pinks and Horsepower TV walking the aisles in the show hall.
The best part of the show was , as they say, “being in the right place at the right time” as we received a call about the rule changes that impact the alcohol funny cars. Right there at the show we were able to confirm the information with the NHRA officials at their booth, then immediately visit the respective vendors that either will be selling the materials needed and/or install the components or modify our car to meet the new specs. Some of the vendors did not even know that the rule changes were formally announced until we approached them to order the components or scheduled to get our car into their shop for the required modifications.
The show was great, the cars on display were awesome, and as anticipated the Florida weather offered a brief reprieve from the cold and damp days we have been experiencing in the northeast. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit the PRI show yet, plan for it next year. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Hey Scott, wish I knew you were there, would have looked you up. Even though we (IHRA) don't need all the stuff NHRA requires, I installed the Butler pads last year and will be installing those and ISP's formed seat pad (way cool!) as I have back problems and I think this will help. I'm half done with the new chassis so it was a great place to see whts new. Are we going to see you ata few more IHRA races???

    Hey Scott,
I sure am jealous that I am not their and can not make it. Teaching has alot of benefits but I can not take the time off like when I was a Mechanic. With saying that if the PRI was in the summer I would have time to walk thier and back.
    Have fun everyone!
I hope everyone walks out with sponsorships!
    Cheers

P.S Tim don't you have cars to build, stop the vacations they will drive you to drink.

    Tim

Sorry to be replying so late. We are planning to run as many IHRA races as we can. Sorry we missed you at the show but with the crowds we could have walked right past you and still not have seen you. We ran a couple of NHRA races last year so we need to get all the class upgrades put in place so we can compete again this year. It will be a busy off season getting the car in order. Looking forward to seeing you again at the track.
