Out of cuosity....when you guys take your tad or nitro injected dragsters to test and tune at your local track or whatever do you have to call ahead of time so the track can have special insurance. some one was saying that my local track...it being bradenton, florida would not appreciate you just showing up with a tad or especially something running nitromethane? any truth to this at all? thanks Tommy

You say it doesnt hurt to make a call but would they actually tell you that you cant run that kind of car there? or is it just a courtesy thing? and do tracks really have to have some sort of special insurance when your testing and tuning these cars?

i would hope both parties would be honest. if you have a NITRO fueled dragster, i would definatly point it out. i would also ask to speak to the track manager and explain just what you want to do. just don't call up and ask the secretary if you can come run your dragster!

Drop a dime and save hundreds of dollars.

A courtesy call can save you a lot of time and fuel.
They will also save you a pit space in front.

We got turned away when we showed up for what turned out to be a rice burners only event at the local bracket track that we had used many times and had always been very happy to have us run before. And fuel for our tow rig was only $1.20 a gallon then and I still had to buy the whole crew lunch and dinner.

Ok but typically a test and tune session, from what i know is usually open to anyone correct? Or are these cars exceptions?

Call ahead... I don't think it would be an issue, but they may not want to pay for another crew on the track or have to prep it... I've seen A/Fuelers at test sessions a few times...

Most local tracks don't carry nitro insurance on a regular basis, although they can usually get a rider for special events or with enough notice. Best to contact them ahead of time to be sure.

    Yes Call Ahead

We made the mistake of we did call ahead went from Northern NH to maplegrove PA,we did call ahead but they had a schedule change and we left after the told us.Then called e town since its on the way back,we did not get the name of who we spoke to and they told us we could not run because a blown car was noisy and it was a muffler only day,and they have a noise restriction deal with the town,(they let us run anyway).BUT IF YOU CALL AHEAD GET THE NANE OF WHO YOU SPOKE TO !!!

    OK @ Houston

We test and do license runs at Houston Raceway. Usually call ahead but not always. Sometimes just look at their schedule on the internet. They are always very accomidating to us and others I know that test there from time to time. However sometimes they lease the track out to the rice burners, motorcycles, alters, etc. In that case it is up to the org. who is leasing the track. Once the motorcycle guys were happ to have us to add to their show.

I highly doubt that Englishtown would let you run a TAD car on a non-loud day...

not only the insurance, but to make sure they have the proper safety people, the track is prepped a little bettre for a much more powerful car than what may normally be running that day, and just letting them know is appreciated by them.
