What are you guys running on a BAE IV head for exhaust gaskets?

    Copper?

    Bossed or Flat?

I have been running just a high temp gasket and have to repalce them about every 6 passes. They blow out.

Why even run a gasket? If the flange leaks a little its no big deal. Save the time and money, take them out.

Again I ask why even run a gasket? What does it matter if it leaks a little?

Call Mark Adelizzi at Flatout Gaskets.

Blowvette dont wast time or money on exhaust gaskets. There is no horsepower lost from not having them, you will not burn your head and you will definately not hear the leak. People run exhaust flange gaskets because they think they are supposed to, no other reason.

    gaskets

We run old torn up copper gaskets just to keep the headers from digging into the head. I don't think they are neccessary.

After 30 years of running drag cars, altereds & dragsters, Ive never used an exhaust gasket, never harmed a head from this either.

We use High temp RTV silicone (put on and let it tack up before installing header) to prevent galling on the cylinder head but have never run a gasket. We run zoomies. I have always thought that without backpressure from an exhaust system there should be no need for a gasket.
    Hope this helps,

I recommend copper gaskets and copper-colored RTV.

i have only used the orange silicone on all my cars even way back in the sprint car days never any problem and all my blown cars why spend the money for copper gaskets when a 5 dollar tube of silicone will work just let it set up a little before you put them on

Allways just used good grade of silicone until I got shut off on the starting line by a real curious offical a couple of times. Always use them now but only because we run nitro and the rich condition at idle when the flange leaks looks like a small fuel leak if you don't know any better.
