now i have 60W monograde oil, with proper clearances and proper warming its makes the engine survive...:)

so, someone could share about use of multi-grade on big hemis? or the monograde is the way to go?

I run either 50w or 70w lucas oil depending on how hot it is. I am not an engineer but a 20w-50 is half 20w I believe and I would be scared to death to run 20w oil. And I run a NHRA legal TAFC with a PSI blower. Dave Germain

the W stands for winter. unless you race in sub freezing conditions, you are using 50 wt oil (if you have a 20w-50 oil) use straight weight oil.

    Other Oils

Does anyone make a high weight full synthetic oil.

The cost would be a lot more, but it is only about 25% as flammable.

The "W" stands for weight. In other words 20W-50 is really a 20wt oil that has the same viscosity breakdown point of 50 wt monograde. Run at least a 50 wt monograde but we are like most others and run either Kendall Nitro 70 or Castrol 70 wt 4 cycle motorcycle oil.

The problem with a synthetic oil is the deterioration of the tracks sticky surface after an oil down. The chemicals in the oil break up the petroleum based surface over time.
