I am finally going from a Fan to a Racer. I have found a Brad III that a guy has in the back of his garage. It seems to be complete. He claims I can just drop it in and go racing. He has given me a price of $21,000. I have seen lots of engines for sale on this site but none seem to be complete. Is $21,000 a good price.

    complete means:
Blower, Injector, Fuel Pump - Fuel System - Mags Mallory 4's - Oil Pump- Idler Pulley Blower pulleys and belt

    Like I said complete.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Are all the parts in good shape? If not,
Seems like a lot of escrole for a museum piece. I would take it apart first and check EVERY thing, 21,000 is a lot of escrole.

Unless it's got a PSI H.H. or a K-11 Superman on it....that seems WAY expensive. Check your pm's

    buyer beware

I fell into a to good to be true deal ,bought a motor on someones word he was right in what he said.BUT I dint take things apart before I bought it and only found 1 problem he had a intake with a pop off that was legal for the class at the time of the sale,he was right in that part, but he dint tell me that and when I blew the intake out of the car and found it bolted on the inside I was told I should have checked first.Get a reputable person to go with you for a new person to the sport there is a lot to pick up on,if its lagit he will have no problem with this and if it was legal back then it might no be now.

Yep, My brother bought a motor, and I took it apart and it had every junk part that anyone could find in a race shop put in it so it was complet, but you coulden't use it. 1.spun main, 2, junk crank, 3, bad springs, 4, old rods, 5woreout cam and drive, 6, junk manafold, (was milled to leak by croocked engine builder ) took him 2 years to finaly listen to me and by a new one. thick headed ginni, the saying (alls fair in love and war) applys to used race parts too, if there selling, they are probably useless, or good but out dateted and therefor usless. save your money for one more year and buy new parts from BRAD. you wont regret it. ;);):D

Thanks for the private messages and the info guys. I forgot to mention this guy owes me some money and he wants to do some trading.

I plan on running it in a Top Sportsman style car. Nothing serious. Just a weekend warrior type deal.

Mert Hi helix with drive - older style
idler set up -blower pulleys and blower belt
Gorr fuel system- 990 pump - Buzzard - all the port lines and fuel lines - fuel shut off
2 - fresh cerrillo mag 4's including all the plug wires and coils
    new rods
    new pistons
    new cam
    new push rods and adjusters
cast KB block two windows repaired by KB
crank is good had it checked for cracks
new oil pan and oil pump
valve covers look ugly looks like it has had a couple of pushrod problems
manifold has bust panels in them
blower blanket is out dated but in good condition

I helped him put it back together so I know the above list is acurate. I just don't know if $21,000 is a fair price or not. I was thinking around $17,000 or $18,000. I don't want to screw the guy he is my friend but then I don't want to get screwed either.

To the guys who gave me their honest opinons both in the public forum and by private messaging...... THANK YOU!

It seems that $21,000 was too high of a price and $15,000 to $16,000 is more in line.

    This is a great site.
