Let's say you have a Hemi with a converter drive, and a legal bell housing can around the converter and a motor plate.

Where/How are people typically accessing the converter to flexplate bolts if the bolts have to go in from the backside of the flexplate and engage into the converter lugs???

Staring at my stuff scratching my head.

    Thx.

Maybe I'm missing something here with the rules....but when I ran a Lencodrive, I bored a 1.00" hole in the motor plate at 6:00 position as an access hole for a socket (lined up with the converter bolt circle).....pretty sure you are allowed several access (or cooling) holes in the motor plate....

I wondered about that, or whether I would have to make bolt-on block off plates when the job was done, so as to keep the rules people happy?......

Not a hemi, but yes i have a 1" hole bored in my motor plate to get to the bolts. Paint stripes on your flex plate so you can see the bolt coming as someone rolls the engine.

I find it easier to slow down for the bolt vs always backing up for it.

Pretty sure the rules allow a couple of access holes in the motor plate....I had them at 4:00 and 8:00 positions but they were hard to get at with a socket so the 6:00 (straight down) position worked the best...when we went to a clutch I welded plugs in the holes to stop the clutch dust from getting the oil pan and diaper grungy..

Position the holes in the engine plate wherever they're needed and tap them to 1" NPT or AN-16 and use screw in plugs.

On a BAE/KB/TFX if you put a cooling hole around 4 o'clock you can get to it with the pan on, but you're going to have to use the bolts with a 7/16" head on them and most likely reduce to 1/4" drive socket. I've also used the swivel with the socket built onto it. Most of these options it is hard to get the required torque on them though.

The best option is to make a torque extension. weld a broach for 1/2" drive on one end of a piece of plate, then make it long enough and weld a cutoff socket to the other end.
