Currently putting together a blown alky BBC deal for top dragster. I have a 4 gallon tank mounted behind the seat. Do you think this is big enough? Car will be towed to and from the track so just burn out and 1/4 mile pass.

    No sir.
Think of a fuel system as a hydraulic system. Not only do you have to have ample supply for the engine to produce heat, but all of those lines have to be supplied as well.
That being said, my blown alcohol top dragster takes about 3.5 gallons to bring it back to the same level after a pass. I tow to and from also.

Yea thats what I figured, my son talked with a friend that has a 5.9x car and they use about 4.5-5 gallons, seems high but maybe not. Doing a little math I can fit a custom 6 gallon tank with minimum mods to the car. Any issues with a non anodized aluminum tank? I run a small amount of Klotz fuel lube now and was going to continue to do so.

My nose mounted tank with a -16 line will hold 10 gallons. Figured I'd be able to adjust the balance. I run it at 7 gallons. It's not anodized, but I'm a firm believer in draining, and pickling the fuel system when not in use.

You would need no smaller than a 6 gallon tank typically you will use 4.5-5 gallons on a run. That is if you dont get burnt down, have to start early or are made to start do your burn out back up wait shut off then start over. I suggest to my customers no smaller than 8 prefer 10.
    Good luck in 2018

I ran mid 6s with a 4 1/4 gallon tank. I spent some time getting it to idle fairly efficiently. I was using just under 3 gallons most of the time. I would get pretty nervous when a nitrous cars would do their top fuel staging routine. I did run out at 1000 ft once after the barrel valve linkage fell apart on the burnout.

My new car is only about 5 1/2 plus lines and everything. It was supposed to be 6 but somehow we missed on he math. Never had a problem but always make sure it's full to the top when we go up.

7 gal. tank in the nose for me. Usually go through around 4 gallons. Proper leak down on your BV will help with the idle consumption of course. But you'll chance burning through your whole tank if you get held up at the line for any reason..avoid running the nitrous guys

I have just under 6 gallons in my blown T/D, usually put about 4 gallons in after a normal run.

Not a chance 4 gal. will do. I run an 10-71 sbc and ran into out-of-fuel with a 4.5 gal tank at 1000'. fab'ing up a front mount 8 gal tank for ballast, long burnouts and idiots who long-stage

I have a new 8 gal tank we built for behind the seat placement on our tad, used once & went back to nose tank.
If you haven't built yours yet, this one may fit, and will be super cheap.
