Saw it with my own eyes last December at PRI. Not sure which burner this one is on now.

That's why I said "this one", it was the SSI, and was told, it's coming in the future, but were not sure when. I didn't ask if they were taking orders yet.

WOW !!! That's totally awesome news. Sign me up for 2 right now. Why just the other day I was thinking... what the top alcohol class needs is a good blower war, at 18 to 20 thousand dollars each. I bet that will bring a ton of new racers into the class and I can't imagine how many more spectators will fill the stands.
Yo Mike - I know where you're coming from, but keep in mind that down the road your current blower could be worth the price of a good boat anchor or someones man cave door stop

The last time I talked to SSI, several months ago, they where not taking orders, still had to complete a blower for testing. They will be priced between $13,500 - $14,000 and $600 for a recert. I think it is a back burner project that gets worked on in there spare time. I hope the project materializers in the near future.

Did I mention I'm enjoying my retirement? Is the key in Mike Kosky's original statement "from the ones that love to give you the screw"?

So why do you need to re-cert these and a roots does not need it? Since there is some competition from Whipple, SSI and DMPE to the PSI, why not just get rid of the cert for the PSI. Yeah I know the money issue but it is plain BS due to the safety equipment to contain an explosion. What will it take to get rid of this monopoly that NHRA, PSI and SFI have created? Somebody needs to grow a pair!

Now that is a question I have been meaning to ask...why does a PSI blower need a recert, and not a Roots, or , other than a clutch, any moving engine related component?

PSI Blowers need -re-certs because the Male rotor is Segmented, ( otherwise known as Laminated)
Its made of plates stacked up like Ritz crackers in the new wrapper, glued together, like peanut butter between the Ritz crackers,
This is done so the plates look like "Snow flakes, with lightening holes in them,
to keep the male lobes hollow inside for extra weight removal, & less rotating pitch circle mass.

Norms 1st blowers were hollow "Cast rotors" that were lite, , & machined, to appear similar to billet, but lite, like a water jacket head, vs a solid head,

but those cast rotors would not handle the speeds (20,000+rpms) all the racers were attempting to spin them to gain a huge performance advantage over the Roots, cuz The screw air temps dont heat up like the roots with ridiculas rotor speeds,

This all came to a head after they started flying apart between 1st & 2nd rnd at PHX bk in late 80s, in Top Alcohol,

Took Stormin Norm'n- Drazy a few yrs to redesign his "work of art supercharger",

without using a solid billet chunck for the male rotor to start out with, (like a Whipple A980/R980),

As Norm & colleages learned while testing w/ Nivers car the solid rotors were heavy and didnt "spool up" as qwikly,

& the engs "Rate of recovery in the gear changes" suffered as well,
Thats why the ole, giant, Whipples @ 601" cu inches of swept volume,
Will never really out perform a C rotor PSI BLOWER,
Even thou they can make more boost than a PSI CAN!

DUE TO THE MASS OF THE SPINNING ROTOR IN THE BILLET WHIPPLE,
PSI did build billet, solid male rotors,
for applications like gasoline boat & offshore engines, & gas street engines.

See, the laminated rotors can still "Delaminate", if things go bad, or u eat something thru the supercharger, LIKE
U when u eat a nut or bolt thru a billet rotor Roots, & u smooth out the chuncked rotor,
& sell it off, or keep running it, in most cases,
    W/ min losses, surprisingly.

But once that PSI STARTS TO COME UNGLUED, ITS kinda like a blender with the ingredients being the thin, alum plates glued together. ( Think Ritz crackers again, but in a blender)

So NHRA REQUIRES THEY BE "Watched" now,
Hence the SFI cert a laminated PSI D & C rotor may need,
Mostly D rotors cuz C rotors are not allowed in NHRA RACING.

& they do need it, (SFI chk'd) cuz as good as Norm's rotor construction process is when he developed it,

Those rotors can de-laminate on u without ingesting any debris, on a rare, very rare, occasion. It has happened,
& usually u see your boost drop on data recorder before the catastrophic event occurs.
BTW, THE SAFETY EQUIP DID NOT CONTAIN THE PSI SHRAPNEL THAT FLEW something like 167 FEET, LATERALLY , not including vertical ascent, as was nearly im-measurable, & the PIECES IMBEDDED Themselves INTO objects like local, race pitted RV's,
& those Great pieces of Safety equip items wrapped around that PSI blower , came apart , parts like the blower bag, on them, were just useless at that time.
The safety equip mentioned above Did not REMOTELY contain the EXPLOSIONS.
THE BAGS looked like they were made of Charmin (toilet paper).

    Nassau

If anyone of u start selling ur boat anchors, any where near boat anchor prices as u say they will be worth,
im in for buying all u got fellows got, :+)
when u make ur mad dash to the Great new Blower on the block, & i dont mean the Dpme screws from 5 yrs ago (coming soon !!) either.
