Currently setback 2 1/2", 14-71HH, front discharge. Of course jetting is staggered front to rear. Would more setback (enough to center the blower discharge) make more power?

Yes because gives more even boost to all the cylinders

I have some AJ fuel heads on my hemi. I used a top fuel style "set back" manifold that positions the blower outlet in the center of the engine. Before the set back manifold my port stagger went from 60's in the front to 38's in the back. AFTER the set back manifold the port stagger went to 60's in the front four and 55's in the back four cylinders. EGT are within 100 degrees of each other during the run.

That sounds great about the nozzles, but did it run faster?

It does help a little with the distribution , we use blower gel on a roots and it still blows a good majority of it into the front 4 cly's judging by where most of the gel is plastered .

    hi all!
does this also apply to standard roots blowers with a "big" bottom opening?
does the blower size matter in relation to the setback distance?
    i m running an 8.71 standard helix,35%OD,so curious...

The top fuel guys set there standard helix big bottom opening blowers way back so I would have to say yes it helps.

They also cut a delta into the intake.

I wouldn't think so. If your blower is cut with a rectangle then you put a delta spacer under it to go in your rectangle intake. Seems like that's not right at all.

I thought the top fuel blower outlets were machined with the same concept as the HH outlets, at least the ones I've seen are.

So they are standard helix but still exiting the air thru a pie shaped opening, making the setback blower a more sensible move.

I've not done a back to back dyno test but I like the concept of more even distribution and thats why our engines are slowing getting switched.

They build the delta spacer into the manifold.

The fuel car I've worked on uses a Delta bottom blower ? Started with the Gibson/Miller , then went to the SSI . The manifolds are the AJ stuff, non setback though, w/ a rectangular opening ?

We switched out twd truck over to a set back last year and we basically now have all the nozzles in the intake the same and all the temps are very close with 75 degrees. But as far as making more power we didn't really notice much of a gain I'd say on a dyno it may make a little more but we are still running the same gear as we did before the setback. Not sure if that is much help to you.
