I'm trying to decide whether to modify my 9.5" Strange Top Loader over to the 10" ring & pionion. My other choice would be to spend more money to switch back to the 10.5" Chrisman rear end.

We are not happy with the 9.5" gear life. I've been told the 10" conversion has been trippleing gear life. Has anyone got any experience with the converted toploaders?

    Thanks,
    Marty

Or sometimes there still charging top dollar for inferior parts they know aren't as good as once was. I will never own another US strange gear again! Chinese shit steel!

What manufacturer 10" gear is being used? I had looked into this a while back, and only found 3 manufacturers: US/Strange, Motive, and Tom's. I had bad experience with Motive gears years ago. The last 2 sets of US/Strange didn't last 6 runs. Tom's recommends changing the heat treat, because his gears aren't optimized for drag applications.
I don't want to use US/Strange if they are just making a bigger gear out of the same bad steel.

Tom, we just bought the Motive. Their 9.5" gears outlived the U.S. gears by double this year.
