Has anyone tried the MK16 CG/DMPE front load screw injector hat with the big blades? What did you think?

If not the 16 how about the MK12 with the smaller blades, or the P2?

    Thanks.

Does your driver have any troubles with it? That's a bunch of throttle area!

We also run the MK16 in England, as well as the DMPE Stealth plate. Also on a D but we're only at 70% over. In fact, we were the first to run it here, and
the titanium blades were my idea (couldn't afford the more expensive exotic materials that would have zero shrinkage due to temperature).

As Karl said, once the blades have "settled down", we also can get the idle down to 1800-1900, which drops to 1600-1700
when the transbrake is applied (we run a 3 speed Lencodrive whereas Karl runs a B&J 2 speed).

We have broken, I am led to believe, a world record number of reversers, but I do not believe the hat is hurting us there as the idle should be fine.

Both Karl's and my cars normally run in Super Pro ET. I have to lift at 1000' to avoid running sub 6.00. At a recent Top Dragster event, we did run a 5.79 @ 242
so it seems to be working pretty well considering we're not running that much boost (we're getting around 44 psi), and the 242mph was at around 9400 rpm.

Of course, Carlo Gandolfi (CG) is a long time personal friend so I might be a little biased....

Thanks for the great info! What issue did the Ti blades fix, and in a perfect world what would be your choice for "other exotic" blade material, cost aside?

As Martyn replied,he had the issue first with the aluminium blades shrinking when the engine was running causing a huge air gap between the blades and injector hat,the titanium blades do not shrink anything like as much which allows the idle to be low enough for a converter car,I don't know what the other materials are that Martyn and Carlo looked into but I'm sure Martyn will tell you

When we ran with the Ally blades, we set the gap to as near as 0.006" as we could. We noticed that, after the motor had run for a minute or two, and we remeasured it, the gap had increased to 0.012" to 0.015"....
much more air, therefore higher idle which we couldn't drown with fuel (when we added fuel at idle, the motor just burnt it and idled higher...).

The best material would probably be something like INVAR (from Wikipedia "known generically as FeNi36 (64FeNi in the US), is a nickel–iron alloy notable for its uniquely low coefficient of thermal expansion").

However, a quick look on the web showed a price of 285 euros (about 315 USD or 475 NZD) for a piece 100mm by 100mm.... so to replace the 3 blades with Invar was looking like 2000 USD. Too much for an experiment... So Titanium it was...

Could you possibly shoot me a few pics of your MK16 atop your screw deal? I've seen the MK12 in person, but never the MK16. Curious how it looks. I've only ever seen tiny little images of the MK16, by itself but none in place on a C or D for real.

    Thanks.

Actually, thinking about it, ours is a MK11, not a MK16. Same blade size but not a low profile injector...

Will email you a picture or two anyway but probably not what you need to see if you're front motored.
