I have a 3 speed steering wheel shifter manifold..

Should it be taken apart and lubricated or are there are seals or orings that should be replaced as regular mantenence? It is working fine now i just wondered if I should do anything to it before the season starts.

Also I have an early B&J Big Boy single sprag trans. I understand that you can have engagement issues with the reverser if you bump it to many times when the car is moving slightly?

I have to move my car a couple inches every time I have put it in reverse, sometimes twice but my undertanding is that this is pretty normal to have to do.

Again it works fine now but I am just trying to be prepared. I have the schematic from the website. Is there is a common part that is known to give trouble is really my question.

    Thank you for any help.

    Hi Rusty,

There are a couple of o-rings in that manifold as I recall where the shifter button shafts ride but I do not know how easy they are to change, I know they can swell after a while making it very hard to shift. Mike at B&J is a great guy and I am sure he could tell you everything you need to know about it. For what it's worth every converter team I have worked on with Lenco's or B&J's has had to bump the trans brake a few times to get it into reverse. Mike is the best one to call on that.

    Thanks Trev for the info.

I have dealt with B&J and they are great but they have not answered my last emails or returned calls so I thought I would post here for some help...
I will try Mike again too.

I received a PM with some help on the buttons.

    Thanks! RK
