Which crankshaft gives me the most value for money for a blown bbc combination with about 1600 hp, how much can a stok crank handle, I wonder if I'll run another year with the crank I have before I increase hp.

4340 forged worked for me at that power level.

I ran several Eagle and 1 Crower 4340 forged in several BBC at up to about 2,000HP with no failures. They were 8/71 and 14/71 540s on alcohol never above 8,900 RPM.

If costs are not an issue then go with a billet ie Bryant, winberg,or valasco, but I personally think for a BBC at that hp,a callies crank is the way to go,we have have a callies in our blown alky BBC that has got over 400 passes on it and still going strong.

Is it ok with a Dragon Slayer or do I need a Magnum. The important is that it will not break if it weighs a little more is less important to me.

    Dragon Slayer Worked for me.

Never a problem, now the motor is running in a monster truck, no problems.

I was told they are the same forging. The Mag has more mods, knife edging ect. We run the Mag 18-2000 no problems been running them for 10 years. Anything will break with detonation.

We ran a Lunati pro blower series in a roots blown alcohol dragster that ran 6.20s in the 1/4 and never had a failure though as mentioned if cost is no option a billet Winberg or Bryant is the way to go.

    Best wishes,
    Trevor Sherwood

Look at a SCAT for that HP. Billet is nice, but big $. My scat comes out and gets checked every winter.
